Ok thank you for your help. It seems like this might not be the best idea. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to integrate standards into our design processes?

Ok, thank you for your help. An example would be:
"Device must be an enteral feeding catheter compliant with 20695" can give the proper reference to the standard. Is this not a good input?

You have to get specific requirements from product standards. (if it's a based standard for product such as ISO 15675)
You can define step by step or line by line in standart. It's not a nice way to fill desing input as "Device shall comply ISO 20695."

What do you have in your product standard ? In example, the feeding way definition or thickness. This part shall be input of your design. After it's defined in your design input document, get a unique code for design verification. Then type it to design verification plan, combine with design input. Then perform design validation.
