Starbucks isn't bad coffee, definitely better than McDonalds. I don't frequent them, but will stop in on road trips. I think Panera's coffee is better. Better than either one is Seattle's Best - available at some Border's book stores, and of couse in Seattle.

A better bet is the coffee I make at home using coffee from a small roaster located in the Strip District in Pittsburgh named PrestoGeorge.

When something has been around for 1000 years, like coffee, and all of a sudden it becomes popular and everyone's wants to be seen drinking it, there's a fad at work. Maybe the coffee fad has run its course.

It might be a fad, Jim, all I know is thankfully the McD's in my town makes good coffee, cuz I hate the 75 mile drive to the nearest Starbucks!:lmao:

I just had a cup of McDonald's coffee the other day and it was pretty good--much better than it used to be. I used consider it undrinkable.

I am not a big fan of Starbucks so whether they succeed or not is not important to me. I like Panera coffee better especially hazelnut.

Remember when bagels and yogurt were fad items? Everyone got into the business until there were too many of them and they went under. Starbucks and other coffee shops were a disaster waiting to happen.

Mark,

You have GOT to try the tea at Starbucks - once you get past the weird names (like orange passion...or is it passion orange?) their tea is outstanding.

My doctor said to cut back my caffeine so even though I'm a major coffee drinker I occasionally buy a hot tea - yes, that's my "cutting back" - and I have to say that the Tazo Teas at Starbucks are great. Really great.

Meanwhile Tim Horton's continues to prosper and expand

mmmm a double double from Timmies

FYI Tims is a Canadian coffee chain

They sell coffee, with the fancy name of "coffee"

Your choices are small, medium, large,

and

black, cream, sugar

A double double has about one pound of sugar and half a cup of real cream in it.

You need to brush your teeth and take insulin after drinking it, but it is soooo good!

I do not think Starbucks is really the biggest fallout of the economy, anyway. The serious problem is Archway Cookies going into bankruptcy. When we start affecting the cookie supply - especially noting the holiday cookie supply - it must be a leading indicator of something very bad. :tg:

Personally I will never get my head round paying £3 / $5 for coffees - something which costs literal p's / cents to put together.

Truely extorionate mark ups :bonk:
