Statistical Process Control - ISO 11462-2:2001 Key elements of an SPC System

Hi Everyone,
Recently I received an e-newsletter, and I read an article regarding implementing Statistical Techniques, which falls under clause 7.1, 8.2.3 and 8.2.4. Its about ISO11462-1:2001 Guidelines for Implementation of Statistical Process Control and ISO11462-2:2001 Key elements of an SPC System. Does it mean we have to based or reference our SPC on these guidelines?

In a word, NO. You are required to determine applicable methods and extent of use (8.1)but ISO11462 requirements are not mandatory. However, you must ensure that the methods used are effective.
