It occurred to me that while I made a cute expression (Stealth quality versus no quality) I am still stuck on what to call this for the layman's benefit because, as I warned, the saying contains the word "quality".
So, what do you think, all? How else can we name Stealth Quality so people aren't confused?
Here's the rub: many business people say they don't need help, even as their businesses hemorrage money through things like employee turnover (and this affects customer satisfaction, as we all know) because their product or service is "A high-quality product/service" already.
An engineer acquaintance put it succintly: "We build quality into our product." Yes, thank you, I was very comforted.

What he just told me was that they don't need an inspector. It didn't say anything about the other 99 ways a business can go under.
So you see, very smart people are also confused by the word and we ought not use it if we want to help more people get started on their performance improvement journey.
I don't use "performance improvement" because it sounds like we are balancing a motor. Even though in an analogy, that's exactly what we're doing.
What else do you think would work?
