Strategy presentation how to reduce non-quality cost (NQC)

Starting to get Involved
I'm reaching out to see if someone has a strategic presentation that can be shared for reduction of Non- Quality Cost which includes scrap, rework & warranty costs for defective quality parts. I'm trying to create a strong direction to multiple plants.

Not sure what you are looking for…do you simply need a ‘boilerplate’ presentation on what the types of costs are part of poor quality (commonly known as COPQ)?

Only you know what you need - can you be more specific in what you are looking for?
I and others have several presentations in the resources section that you might find helpful…and you can search “COPQ” in the search bar…

Do you need to know how to calculate them?
Do you need to include the Toyota Production type of efficiency savings? (Mostly time)
Do you need examples of the costs other companies have saved?
Who are you trying to convince? Of what?
Senior management that they should support problem solving and prevention? Front line workers who should be more careful and not produce poor quality? Or do you need them to be more careful in reporting defects? Or ar eyo utryign to convince them of the merits of following the process
Are you trying to prioritize work/convince engineers and scientists that solving and preventing problems will reduce COPQ?
Are you trying to convince finance that this is worthwhile?

If you are trying to convince any of the above HOW do you propose they solve and prevent problems?
As Deming said ‘exhortations and goals’ are not sufficient: you need a method to attain the goal.

Who will calculate and track these costs?

How much do you know about COPQ and solving and preventing problems?

A presentation on COPQ is pretty simple to put together.
A presentation on WHAT must be done and HOW to do it is more complicated
Actually calculating the costs can be fairly time consuming.

I am not trying to dissuade you from this effort. Answering these questions will allow us ot better help you…

I need to create an action plan/presentation for Reduction of NQC cost and improve quality performance for Senior management in automotive manufacturing

In my experience, you need to put actual numbers in such a presentation, otherwise it will be too hypothetical. You should have "cost now" versus "cost to avoid/fix/prevent" numbers.

There is a further complication to trying to adapt an external presentation... your specific circumstances might take certain areas of potential improvement "off the table". Ideally, you can present the case about those areas as well... and stimulate discussion why those can't be considered.

If you are after a "strategic presentation", I'd suggest that you must have at least some idea of what "poor quality" is currently costing your organisation.... what are nonconformances typically raised for, what gets reworks and how much time/money does it cost to perform the rework and re-inspection? What is currently done to perform root cause analysis and how much does it cost to implement the required changes for elimination?

What they said...
to be believed you need to develop your own presentation that addresses your organization's situation. We cannot do this for you...
If creating this presentation seems overwhelming for you it is likely that you are not nonweldable enough in COPQ and how to improve it.
We can answer specific and focused questions to help you.

We are not trying to dissuade you, we simply don’t want to see you walk naked and unarmed into the Lion’s den of senior management…

the first question is why are you trying to create this presentation? what is the impetus? and why you?
next question is how much do you know about problem solving and prevention? (5-Whys, Error proofing, Progressive decomposition, DoE, SPC, FMEA...)
Where do you believe the defects are coming from?
Do you have any data indicating what the defects are?, where they come from? what causes them?
How would you propose solving them?
How would you lead this effort in your organization?
