Does the organization determine the monitoring and measurement to be undertaken and the monitoring and measuring devices needed to provide evidence of conformity of product to determined requirements (see 7.2.1) (1)?

Does the organization maintain a register of these monitoring and measuring devices, and define the process employed for their calibration including details of equipment type, unique identification, location, frequency of checks, check method, and acceptance criteria?

For services Industry like us the equipment is Workstations, Software etc.
Will the workstation needs any kind of calibration etc?

It is hard to say without knowing what you do at the workstations. Assuming you confirm a measurement, you would need to show the measurements were accurate and reliable which would indicate you need to calibrate (or verify prior to use) the equipment you use. Software, when used for measurements also requires calibration (many times this is a verification using test rabbits).

If you could outline what you actually do at the workstations a more definite direction of calibration needs could be given. Without knowing more, the general rule should be if you are measuring something, do it with a calibrated device.

Thanks for response. Our workstations are loaded with the software. We use workstation to perform the design work as per client requirement or specification using the loaded software.

Control of Monitoring and Measuring Devices, falls under clause 7.6 and 7.6.2 deals with Calibration/Verification Records.

7.2.1 Determination of Requirement Related to the Product. Management has to Determine the Customer's Requirement, vis-a-vis the product. This requirement varies from product to product, and must be mentioned there in your quality manual.

Could you be a bit specific about the exact nature of your problem? You will be able to get more responses once the problem is properly understood.

:topic:

A station is something where things become stationery, viz : Railway station, Service station, Bus station etcetra. Therefore, a WORKSTATION should be referred to a place, where WORK stops!?! :lmao:  :lmao:

I just want to know what kind of calibrations, Inspection or measurements required in workstation or computer which is loaded with the software

:topic:
You can’t understand Workstation, if you are not from service Industry. So better stay away :bonk:

...your workstation must be somehow a “design” station as per your descriptions (since you are performing there the design work as per your customer requirements / specifications)… and you are probably doing “design review”, “design verification” and “design validation”… and performing these tasks, requires you to use pre-loaded software…

…unfortunately (& I believe), software cannot be considered as “measuring devices”… and therefore no calibration is required… instead, your design review, verification & validation should be re-defined in accordance with ISO requirements…

...you know you are absolutely correct… but I realized also that on these stations where work starts… (you know, going to next station)...

Standards require equipment to be "suitable."

That (in your case) includes hardware and software.

So if your workstations are performing as intended, you should be fine.

Thanks. but we are not responsible for design and development. So we already excluded clause 7.3.
Our customer is the owner for the Design and Development. We are just a service organization to carry out the task as per customer specification.
Say.. Customer Requirement for us: Replace X with Y and Place it in Z.
So our designer will so the same and quality checker check out the resulted model or work. (All the work will be carried out in Workstation/Computer)
Once this has been done the drawing or model will be delivering to our customer.

Before anyone can give a clear and correct answer to this question, it's important to know what the workstation is used for.

In general terms, a computer workstation doesn't perform measurement, testing or inspection and therefore needs no calibration. If the software is being used to perform calculations and simulations of designs, then it might be considered design testing. Therefore, it's quite usual to do some kind of validation (by alternate calcs etc.) that the results of the simulation are correct.

But then, there are computer workstations which do nothing but perform testing and monitoring of test items and equipment.

As in another post of yours regarding preservation, it's difficult for us to fully answer, without more information being given to us by you.

Great!! :agree:

So I have to check my hardware and software configuration and all my system should have same configuration. Am i Right?
Should I schedule / hardware maintenance and back up system to make sure my hardware or software not affected by any computer worms or system failure???
