It is said that the changes in ISO 9001:2008 are primarily clarifications that are intended to provide clarity and thus improve understanding of the existing (ISO 9001:2000) requirements.
I also understand most of the changes are for ease of use and improved compatibility with ISO 14001:2004.

I have the new standard and here is how I interpret the changes:
4.1 (e) General requirements - Monitor and measure (new wording) where applicable and analyze these processes. This gives you the option of not measureing every process.
5.5.2 Managment Rep - Has to be a member of organizations's managment team.
6.1 Training - broadened definition on who needs training.
6.4 Work Enviornment - slight changes
7.2.1 Post Delivery Activities - Post delivery activities include warrenty work, maintenance services and recycling or disposal.
7.5.3 ID and Traceability - includes configuration management now.
7.5.4 Customer Property - expanded definition beyond traditional materials to now include intellectual property and personal data.
7.6 Control of Monitoring and Measureing Devices - addition of specifics about verification of the use of computer software using config. management.
8.2.1 Customer Sat - "input from customer satisfaction surveys, data on delivered product quality, user opinion surveys, lost business analysis, compliments, warranty claims and dealer reports"
8.2.3 Monitoring and Measureing of Processess - clarifys how to select measurement methods
8.2.4 Monitoring and Measureing of Product - requires you to maintain evidence of conformity with the acceptance criteria as well as maintaining a record of the person authorizing release of product to the customer.
8.5.2 CAPA - now says reviewing CAPA effectiveness
