Re: Summary of Changes - ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008

We were certified against ISO 9001:2000 and our certifying body was supposed to carry out a Surveillence Audit end of February. Just today they told us that we would b audited against ISO 9001:2008. is the fair or we can lodge a complaint?
I'll bet if you relook at the message they're actually saying "here's a freebie we're gonna do for you with this upgrade"

I don't think the price will change but BSI is a UK source of BS EN ISO 9001 standards
It's a source of my standards too. I wonder how that happens?

Re: Summary of Changes - ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008

One of my clients was ISO 9001:2008 registered for the first time, last week. The system was made 2K version, the only changes that were made were, where it was written ISO 9001:2000, we wrote ISO 9001:2008 and where it was written “Control of monitoring and measuring devices”, we wrote “Control monitoring and measuring equipment”, just to show the auditor that we have read the standard…

Re: Summary of Changes - ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008

Hi all,

Can you let me know where to purchase the 2008 version of the standard please?

I have looked on the ISO website and unless I did something wrong the cost was £72. Surely it is available at a reasonable price somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

Stephen
The Indian Bureau of Standards didn't sell them online, last I checked, but I heard the paper copies are pretty cheap.

If you are certified to ISO 9001, I don't expect it's going to bankrupt the company to shell out the money for the new version (well, maybe the financial crisis will veto that comment).

If you are really trying to escape the "high" price where you are, you are a fan of globalization, and you take the responsibility for contributing to sending staff from your local standards-seller (because you didn't buy there and keep them in a job), then you can check the following link

(I think I've had enough of a say on the matter):

http://www.singaporestandardseshop.sg/Product/Home.aspx

(Just checked and the saving is worth the effort - you need a credit card to order, and it's a single-user licence).

I think I should get a 50% commission on the saving!! PM me for PayPal info ;)

Wow, that's pretty cheap. Can we assume that's $34 in Singapore Dollars? If so, that's the equivalent of about $22.60 USD.

Re: Summary of Changes - ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008

bought the standard for 25USD. I am starting to feel good with the audit a month away. I thought my boss was playing when she said i must change the "language" in the manual. I have done the ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008 replacement. the only problem i had regarded if I need to change the language i used previsiously so that it is a closer reflection of the new standard. I hereby attach my Policy Manual for a Cove Audit
My mistake if its the wrong forum to post it

Summary of Changes - ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008

It is said that the changes in ISO 9001:2008 are primarily clarifications that are intended to provide clarity and thus improve understanding of the existing (ISO 9001:2000) requirements.

I also understand most of the changes are for ease of use and improved compatibility with ISO 14001:2004.

Details, please.

Who wants to start?
I have the new standard and here is how I interpret the changes:

4.1 (e) General requirements - Monitor and measure (new wording) where applicable and analyze these processes. This gives you the option of not measureing every process.

5.5.2 Managment Rep - Has to be a member of organizations's managment team.

6.1 Training - broadened definition on who needs training.

6.4 Work Enviornment - slight changes

7.2.1 Post Delivery Activities - Post delivery activities include warrenty work, maintenance services and recycling or disposal.

7.5.3 ID and Traceability - includes configuration management now.

7.5.4 Customer Property - expanded definition beyond traditional materials to now include intellectual property and personal data.

7.6 Control of Monitoring and Measureing Devices - addition of specifics about verification of the use of computer software using config. management.

8.2.1 Customer Sat - "input from customer satisfaction surveys, data on delivered product quality, user opinion surveys, lost business analysis, compliments, warranty claims and dealer reports"

8.2.3 Monitoring and Measureing of Processess - clarifys how to select measurement methods

8.2.4 Monitoring and Measureing of Product - requires you to maintain evidence of conformity with the acceptance criteria as well as maintaining a record of the person authorizing release of product to the customer.

8.5.2 CAPA - now says reviewing CAPA effectiveness

Re: Summary of Changes - ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008

I have been advised that in line with IRCA that it is not necessary to do a one day course externally - however you will have to demonstrate training
- eg ASQ San Diego Chapter prepared some slide packs for a seminar they ran for their members - so as an ASQ member I will be using them - I also found 2 articles in ASQ's Quality Progress and also Quality Digest which provide a good overview
- then I ran a discussion in our company Global QMS COP on what were the key changes - and distilled the comments - likewise those from ASQ discussion boards and ASQ LinkedIn groups - mostly the comments are similar to those made in the Elsmore Cove forums

I am then sharing this personal training pack with my QMS Internal auditors and site document control officer

- I am also running this by the Chair and another member of Australia's Quality Committee that feeds into ISO TC 176 to get their thoughts

in the current climate external training is not easily justified for manufacturing companies

cheers

Having reviewed your manual I have two questions:

Where's the 'scope' statement? (required by ISO 9001....)

Where's the 'Design and Development' Process(es) shown on the diagram. You refer to D & D in the body of the manual and that you have a procedure for it!
