Are you requesting your suppliers use: EICCGeSIDDtemplate

We, too, received notice from Boeing and the local reps have not been able
to provide much assistance. We are not publicly traded but must satisfy the requirement.

How do you plan to provide guidance on your PO's ?

Thank you all for sharing your comments. However, the bottom line is when customer request us to submit this data, it has been very time consuming and lengthy process for collecting, compiling and submitting the data. I wonder if other companies experiencing the same situation and if there is a better way to do this.

I was at a seminar that had a session on this. I will look to see if i have any information. Like JaxQC said SEC filing and I believe most of the issues were in relation to Africa .

We have done it in 2012 and a request is again received for 2013. We have establishing supply chain communication to get this already and some positive move forward this year too, though slow. It just concerns 3TG, so we know who in the supply chain matter to us. One of the things that is pushed on us being a class A supplier to big names. Fortunate to have some guiding info also supplied by customer. Not a big deal once it is understood....

There are a whole host of 3rd parties offering assistance with Conflict Minerals. However, they are all law firms. The law is very complex and requires an attorney to interpret the law and its requirements. Reports are to be filed with the SEC and a 3rd party done to show compliance. I would suggest you refer to the legal department of your company and you might find that they are already addressing the law and the impact to your company. It is estimated that 5500 companies will be affected the new law.

Hi everyone,
We have been asked by a customer to complete the EICCGeSIDDtemplate form. I completed the first page and sent it back. They responded asking for a list of smelters used. We are a filter manufacturing company. We order components, wire and solder. We received letters from our suppliers saying they comply with the Dodd-Frank law. Do we really need to provide smelter lists even though we don't directly deal with them? Thanks

Hi all,

Bumping this back up.

We are a small build to print machine shop supplying to the semi-conductor industry.

It looks like we need to create a declaration for all parts we supply, upwards of 2000 individual parts.

Areas of concern are tantalum, tungsten, gold and tin.

Information for tungsten and gold are not an issue as we only have one supplier for each of those, however I don't know how much of our products contain tin or tantalum.

Does anyone have some insight on this? The majority of our work is machined piece parts of aluminum, steel, copper and a few other materials. Does tin make its way into any of that?

Have a look at the attachment, which is an Ernst & Young publication explaining Conflict Minerals requirements. Pay particular attention to page 3. If you have a product that contains relevant minerals but they aren't essential to the function of the product or production process, you don't have to do anything.

Possibly. Starting point would be to review the material composition of these materials you use.

Tin is found in metal alloys, which is often made from remelted scrap metal and would exempt, unless it is added for functionality or necessary for production.

Tantalum is unlikely found in material you use. Tantalum is used in capacitors for electronic circuit boards.

I too work for a small machine shop for the aerospace industry. Due to getting a few conflict minerals questionnaire's from customers I have determined that all the distributor's of raw material we use, as well as the manufacturer's we use provide certifications that state the melt location of USA. I would also like to either add a general statement on future PO's stating our compliance and flow down requirement to suppliers for compliance to the conflict minerals law, or some other method to make it be known (our website maybe?) of our intent to comply. Any suggestions or best practices out there you would be willing to share?
