Supply chains are in haywire mode?

Hey guys...anyone else being inundated with supply chain issues?

I know Dow/DuPont declared force majeure on a host of products that is crippling a whole segment of my industry...with everyone scrambling for replacements that don't exist...
But I just ran into the smallest thing that derails a whole other segment...I can't buy HDPE Boston round bottles in HDPE at 32oz (1 liter) anymore either...I go through hundreds a quarter...or used to...

Anyone else facing packaging (HDPE) shortages as well? Have you found a source? I just ordered a few hundred of another type of bottle to hold over, but it's like cardboard and printer paper was discontinued with how disruptive these esoteric shortages are.

Supply chain disruptions appear to be occurring all over. We are experiencing a lot of disruptions in electronic components as well.

And, then, you have a bunch of pundits buzzwording ad nauseum Business Continuity Planning like a panacea....

Like the great philosopher Mike Tyson once said: "...everybody has a plan until you get punched in the face..."

Automotive Supply chain in disarray due to chip shortages and losses are in the billions of US$.

Echoing Sidney's post, yep, yet given the globalization (geographic disparities) + JIT (most of the world is marching to) + Supply Base Reduction (1-2 Key Suppliers = Pronounced and Magnified effects...pre COVID, the hiccups were fewer but no less disruptive. My Two (New) Shekels worth...but wait there is more, some of supply chain angst most not all OEMs are dealing with is in part due to their sourcing strategies? And for those who have an approved BCP, I'll bet my Captain Crunch decoder ring, none anticipated nor accommodated an event such as the pandemic.

Fooey on Risk Management.
If it were (long term) Profit management some of this would not be happening.

It's the "long term" part where it all hit the fan...

Roger that Sidney...the Optimization Knife cuts two ways...now painfully apparent for those who placed Lira, Euros above all else...risk mitigation wont help much in these circumstances.

According to a report from Susquehanna Financial Group, chip lead times have increased to 17 weeks in April of this year, which indicates that tech companies are more desperate than ever to get their hands on a steady supply of microchips...the chip crisis will not abate any time soon, and for now it is unknown when the chip market will stabilize.

The Global Chip Shortage Won't Ease Soon
Because demand will remain high and supply will remain constrained, we expect this shortage to last through 2022 and into 2023. The PC surge will soften a bit in the coming year but not a lot.
