The Beginning of an Audit Programme / Plan

Hi Folks,

I've read a number of Threads regarding the Audit Programme / Plan. Here is what I am starting off with.

We are an interior fitout company which carries out a number of projects during the year which run in duration for a maximum of 12 weeks.

Can I please have some advice on the attached document as well as how I show the various project, certification, surveillience audits that would be undertaken.

The other page in the Workbook is a tracking tool which I am still working on.

I don't have an issue with carrying out the audits. It's more showing them on a programme / plan lol.

The schedule looks as if you are address all requirements of the three standards but it might be worth obtaining BSI PAS-99 to reduce the number of audits since you are using IMS method. Also the three standards are usually process based with means that sections listed should not be audited separately but combined. As an example in ISO 9001 process based audit you are always auditing elements from document control, record control, data analysis for each and every audit.

Hi Jeff,

Funny you mention that standard because I do have it. I'll definitely look at it in more detail.

Now here is my other question. Can you please clarify for me (hopefully this is not a majorly silly question) how do I show on the audit sheet that I attached the audits that I would do on the various projects we have on the books? For the project (construction site) I would be auditing most or all of the elements listed. The thing is my document does not indicate that. We operate in 3 states and have 5 to 6 jobs going at a time. Would I just show those audits on the second worksheet which is more a tracking tool?

Please also let me know if I am just confusing myself (it's been a long day lol)

I would be best to perform process based audits and not specific individual jobs audits. As example all work sites should be operating within the companies set procedures for document control as part of any job plus those required by customer, regulatory and statutory requirements for each location.

Have you had formal training in auditing? If not I would recommend that you take a class or obtain the International Audit Standard ISO 19011.

After reviewing you post a second time it did occur me that you do have an option to audit each location as separate entities or you could perform one audit encompassing multiple location using sampling methods to cover all IMS requirements to produce a single audit report for management.
