One of my favorite things to watch on television is Kitchen Nightmares.
I actually prefer to watch the ones on BBC versus the American version.
Yes, me too. The US ones are not as good (sorry, people).
As for British cuisine being an oxymoron - yes and no. When it's good, it's superb. BUt when it's bad, it's plain awful. (The funny thing
is, that paying lots doesn't necessarily mean you get good. I've had brilliant in little tea houses and awful in fine hotels & restaurants)
But oh, don't get me started on really fine roast beef, still rare in the middle, with quite excellent crisp, light Yorkshire pudding...
Spotted dick wasn't a family favourite in our house, but golden syrup steamed pudding (yum) and Bakewell tart and bread & butter pudding were, and were/are quite wonderful. As for Christmas pudding... OK, now I have to go eat something. Must be getting on for lunchtime here.
