Oh yes the lake levels. All we've heard the last few years was how low the levels were. And you're right, as soon as a thaw hits we'll hear about the coastal floodings.
And I'm moving closer to Wolverine Lake on the Commerce Township side!
I refuse to buy me a golf cart though. My daughter and I will ride our bikes to the beach or the boat launch. If it wasn't for the snow I'd think I was in Myrtle Beach with all the carts running around!
Walled Lake, huh? I worked there for a couple of months, right around 9/11. The company moved to New Mexico around halloweeen that year, as as I was leaving town, the first flakes were starting to fall. Too cold for me!

Utah's got some huge pumps that have been sitting idle since the 1980's when the Great Salt Lake was flooding the surrounding area. They were built and used to pump water out of the lake into the desert to evaporate. Do you have any surrounding areas that you want to target for a flood? I'm sure the pumps are probably available...
Well, as for me, hubby and I are looking forward to a family ride with our daughter this weekend. She's learning how to ride his motorcycle and needs some more practice, so we're planning to get out and ride some this weekend. Supposed to be sunny but cold, so maybe it will just be a short ride.
Tonight hubby and I have a date night - going to see New in Town at the movies. This will be the first movie we've been to see together since The Devil Wears Prada. Looking forward to a good weekend all the way around...
Last night I went through a bunch of mail that piled up over the holidays - including year-end retirement fund statements. They ranged from 31 - 38% down.
But with the markets' downturn I decided the time was ripe to get a 529 account set up for both of our girls (ages 7 & 3) last October. I figured it was a buy-low opportunity. Utah's program is one of the higher-rated ones in the country and I get a tax credit on my state returns - 5% of our contributions.
Heard on the radio this morning durable goods (cars and appliances) purchasing was down 22% last month. I can say we did our part to help - bought a new refrigerator and dishwasher just before Christmas.
Our 5-year old cheapo refrigerator wasn't working anymore - only cooled to 45F, plus Sears had a sale - 10% off one or 15% off two appliances. Plus there is a Energy Star rebate through our power company and we got $30 for letting them haul away our old refrigerator. Our dishwasher was 15 years old and loud. The new one is much quieter.
