The Management system is too much

Hi ,
I have a serious concern.
Yesterday in the refresher audit (9001+14001) with a new auditor I was informed that the management system is too extensive.
I would like to reduce the scope and detail to the essentials.
It was not specifically said what and how?
Are there systems that help you from experience?

Without knowing the details it’s difficult to advise, but the Management system can be as large as you like and cover everything in your business. It’s not an external auditor’s place to tell you that.

now if they recommended that you simplify the system, that’s friendly advice which could be valid if your implementation makes you do more admin than is normal.

I would like to reduce the scope and detail to the essentials.

• Does your scope include products and/or services that do not belong under the QMS or 9001/14001?
• Does your scope refer to processes, sites, or other organizational aspects that do not belong under the QMS or 9001/14001?
• Are there QMS process/procedure docs, policy docs, etc. that refer to things that are not within your stated scope?

It's too bad the auditor didn't elaborate on 'too extensive'.

What is too much?
- Excessive documents?
-Excessive identified processes?
-Excessive quantity of records?
-Excessive Indicators?
-Excessive Job positions?

Please explain a little bit more.

First off the Management System cannot be "too extensive". The mgt system "is what it is".

The scope to which you apply the mgt system to, may be too extensive.

But as noted - we need way more information. So maybe start by documenting all the groups in your org that contribute to the product you make or service you offer.
