By accident this innocent thread exposes the sad reality behind this ISO 9001 revision cycle. Despite repeated member countries votes against a revision, ISO (via the cronies in the TC 176 and the secretariat) managed to ram down the throats of the users a (totally unnecessary and unwarranted) revision.
As alerted by some, the primary unspoken reason for this is pure greed. There will be books, podcasts, templates, training courses, mandates for the document to be purchased, certification transition up charges, etc.
For what? A revision that adds no significant or consequential change. No QMS performance improvement will come out of this. That is already clear. Just like the amendment mandated onto all of the ISO Management System Standards concerning climate change did not alter an iota of corporate governance towards the issue. But ISO likes to pretend they are relevant in the climate change political frontline. The TC 176 allowed the creation of an ISO 9001 Brand Integrity defense group. After many years, this group has absolutely nothing to show for, in the public sphere. I wonder why. What were their findings? What is the outcome of that group? Just another show of utter incompetence, ineptitude and lack of relevance. By the way, both of these failures have been captured, debated and exposed here at The Cove in dedicated threads.
So, for the people concerned with keeping current with the ISO 9001 changes, take your time, don’t fall prey to the greed of unscrupulous trainers, consultants and CB’s. Once the revision is released, there will be plenty of time to “adequate” the system and there will be lots of reliable information, available free of charge. Don’t rush it. Stay tuned here at The Cove and we will continue to be the shelter from the greed storm some are trying to build. Stay calm.
