I am currently in the Automotive Jewlery business. Name plates, to be more exact. My last industry was assembly for diesel engines.

I am with Siegel-Roberts Automotive Farmington, Farmington, Missouri
5. Length of time in quality function
In the professional side over 4 years, in the hourly side well over 16 years.
6. Something personal that sets you apart
I was a ninth grade drop-out and I graduated from Purdue University 4 years ago.
7. Your pet peeve in quality
The people who appear to lack a sense of urgency.
8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?
I would develope a training system that would involve hourly and management people. This system would be ongoing and would educate everyone to be on the same page, stiving for the same results. They would then be measured or evaluated on the Customer Satisfaction ranking ENTIRELY. In addition I would pretest potential employees for team concepts.

2. Job Title or explanation of what you do: Quality System Engineer/QMS Lead Auditor

3. Industry you're in or have been in: currently in polymers (our company "is a manufacturer of specialty high performance polymer-based products directed to a variety of industries including construction, automotive, and telecommunications" - yeah, right from the website). Recent chemical engineering grad (April 2003) from the University of Waterloo; co-ops included dry laundry x2, steelmaking, brewing, government (natural resources) and automotive.

4. Company you work for and location: Chemque; Toronto, ON

5. Length of time in quality function: 6 months today!

6. Something personal that sets you apart: ??? I'm up to a Degrassi trivia challenge anytime - you name the place and I'll be there. Oh, and I'm a stickler for organization and neatness (please ignore the pyramid of Diet Coke/Five Alive cans growing on my desk...)

7. Your pet peeve in quality: Being perceived as the bad guy/a pain in the :ca: (oh - and auditing three-shift operations!).

8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?: Somehow, set quality as a *direct* moneymaker so it's not perceived as a threat to production. ("But we gotta run these parts!!")

previously metal basher in the UK (more specifically Wales), not just in QA. Have been Prod Manager and Ops assistant which really helps you understand what goes on "out there"
4. Company you work for and location: Goodyear, Collingwood, Ontario

5. Length of time in quality function: 7 years on and off, current job, 2 months

6. Something personal that sets you apart: Always ready for a laugh, british accent!

7. Your pet peeve in quality: Being seen as the one who solves the customer problems - I didnt make them, why should I solve them?

8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?: get rid of Q Managers (sorry guys but you are a pain....., admit it)

In the past; Precision valve manufacturing, appliances manufacturing, automotive (Metrology lab), precision timer assembly, Carpet machinery, Precision injection molding, Air-conditioner assembly.

4. Company you work for and location: Ottawa,Ontario, Canada.

5. Length of time in quality function: 18 years+

6. Something personal that sets you apart: Challenging the boundaries.

7. Your pet peeve in quality: We don't have time for doing things right the first time ; but we have time for fixing them multiple times.

8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?: Ingrain Quality as a culture rather than"observe" as a ritual occasionally.
