Re: New Folks - Please Take a Minute and Introduce Yourself / Say Hello!
Just to get you caught up. I made cut score for the CQE on December 2, 2006. It is well earned. Most of my quality background is in metrology and statistics. I was a technician on the production floor for many years. The company I was working for began it's "ISO Implementation Initiative" in 1995. I was scheduled for auditor training sometime in the middle of June 1995. On June 6, 1995 I was in an automobile accident and I have spent most of the last eleven years recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
I was once told that the first step in learning was to admit ignorance. This is what I have done. I had seen and used diagrams like the ones that winchm posted but I had never called them turtles. Forgive me if my question was too basic for this forum.
If you are interested in more details of my indoctrination in the world of quality, you might look for Quality Control and Brain Damage. It will be in the Quality in the First Person column of Quality Progress. I believe that the editor told me the March 2007 issue.
Please excuse me, I've promised to be kind but I just gotta ask something.
You're a CQE and you don't know what a "Turtle" is?

Both BVQi and SAI Global (XLP) training used the term Turtle in ISO9001 Process Audit Training sessions - it is based on the foot print pattern blocks. I'm not sure it was always called "Turtle" some others call them process maps. I think this discussion thread is tied into another one. As for Randy - I'm pretty sure he is one of Uncle Sam's Magnificent Children and they tend to be a bit harder then most of us. If you check some of his other responses you'll see he does contribute to the information bank so chalk this one up - The only dumb question is the one not asked. Way to go with the CQE - I look forward to March QP article.
