Re: New Folks - Please Take a Minute and Introduce Yourself / Say Hello!

My background in manufacturing began as a metallurgical tech. (1983 – 1986) working for a company that supplied tungsten carbide bits for oilfield drilling. In 1986 I went to work for an automotive company (aluminum wheel division) working in their metallurgical lab (1986 – 1990) doing destructive testing (tensile testing), non-destructive testing (x-ray & fluoroscopic exams), metallurgical exams, and industrial spectrometry analysis. I then went to work in our metrology lab (1990 – 1996) where I performed 1st article inspections, CMM programming, and gage calibration. In 1997 I began working in the engineering dept. (1997 – 2001) as a CAD designer, doing 2d drafting and 3d modeling using ProEngineer software.

In 2001 I transferred to our Kentucky facility to take a Design Engineer position. In 2002 a decision was made to close this facility. At that time I decided to change careers to the Health Field. I graduated from a Radiography Program in 2005, and took national boards with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography and passed, earning the designation R.T. (R). I then applied to a Radiation Therapy Program and graduated in 2006. After graduation I took my ARRT boards in Radiation Therapy and passed, earning the designation R.T. (R) (T). Due to a lack of Radiation Therapy positions at this time in Kentucky, I have accepted a position as an atomotive interior/exterior supplier as a CMM Operator/Designer.

5. I have been in quality assurance for about 4 months. We are a fairly new company.
6. I have worked in the manufacturing field for over 25 years and have moved fron helper on shop floor to supervision to programming plasma and laser cutting machines.
7. The amount of paper work required sometimes seems like overkill.
8. Standardize procedures and how things are done so every outside quality inspector is speaking from the same book.
