Re: New Folks - Please Take a Minute and Introduce Yourself / Say Hello!

Well, the canyon is certainly worth seeing. It's even better if you get a pass and just wander around in the bottom of it! I must confess to the fact that we did have a bit of snow this year. 2 inches and the schools shut down. It only lasted one day. There is still snow on top of Mt Lemmon, and it's just a drive up the hill from Tucson.

Glad you decided to join us :agree1:
7. lack of management support
8. More management support.
There is a lot of merit in those simple statements. Perhaps the current Step 1: Engage Top Management! thread could be of interest?
Just found this website yesterday and now I am hooked.
Yep. Not a bad place for exchanging hints and ideas, is it? :agree1:
Taking the time to properly plan will lessen the pain down the road.
Yes.... A continous topic of discussion here.
My pet peeve in quality is any unnecessary redundancy.
In other words: waste. I agree.

Hi Aaron,
I noticed you work for a Medical Device Company. I recently was hired at as very small start up Medical Device Co. We received our ISO 13485 certification but we have a minor in Software Validation.

I was wondering if I could pick your brain on that topic?
I am also new to this site so I am not sure how to take this to a new thread so to speak. If I could get some guidance I would appreciate it.

I have gone through the post attachments list on Software Validation but it seems to be a sparse subject.
I would appreciate any help on the subject.
Thanks in advance.

Re: New Folks - Please Take a Minute and Introduce Yourself / Say Hello!

Hi everone,

I am Alan Sevugan. I am a practising Consultant. I have been involved in Quality and Productivity for more than 20 years.
I quite regularly visit this EC forum for broadening my knowledge, and, also to hear views from others who are involved/associated in these fields. I really find this forum very interesting and useful. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Marc and his team for their efforts.
Industries start off with the intention of producing 100% good quality units. There is no motive to produce "reject" units. However due to number of variables during design/manufacturing there is no way they can produce 100% good units all the time and every time. The Company knows that; the Customers tell them, they accept it faithfully; however here we find some smart CB Auditors just walk in and without even having understood the operations and limitations, give lectures on Quality based on Standards developed by the so called experts, without looking at the basics. What's most important is "the culture of Quality". Quantity is eqully important. CB's cannot use the same yardstick that they are using for an MNC be used for a small Company.
I wrote an article on Quality in the 80s for a leading English daily. I introduced a term "QUANLITY", Quantity with Quality. Because Quantity cannot be separated. We have to look at both in the same perspective.
My request here is the CB Auditors and the so called experts who drafted the Standards must actively participate in this EC forums and other similar forums and get the views and opinions to enrich themselves. Alan

5. Length of time in quality function: None at all.
6. Something personal that sets you apart: I'm 19, and I'm the only one I know my age that lisens to country music.
7. Your pet peeve in quality: Too many standards. Based on what I've seen/been told.
8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do? Cut out duplicate standards, like removing the ISO screw standards (which arn't that good) and keeping the ANSI ones. Actually for that matter if I only had to use ANSI type standards it would be great!

Found this forum looking for ANSI B89.1.10 Standards (I know ANSI and ASME has them on their websites but at 41$ US for 26 pages it seems like its a tad expensive) because I'm interested in Tooling and Measuring building/repair. :)
