Hello every one,
I have recently joined a Manufacturing Company which manufactures heavy mining equipment. They have asked to me work for their quality team. I am completely new to quality. My back ground is electrical engineering. The followign are the goals for me for year 2007. What is thecompnay really expecting from me? Any books that I need to refer for this kind of Job? Any classes/ Traning I need to take? Please give me your input. I have lilttle knowlege in Quality and I do understand ISO-9000, but nothing much more than that.

Basically I plan and execute all internal auidts of our TS16949 and ISO14001 System. I am also in charge of IMDS and Document Control.
3. Industry you're in or have been in - Automotive Wiring Harnesses
4. Company you work for and location - Tal-Port Industries, LLC, Hattiesburg, MS. We also have plants in Yazoo City, MS; Saltillo, Mexico; Fresnillo, Mexico; and Guaymas, Mexico.
5. Length of time in quality function - 3 years
6. I am relatively new to quality. I never know QS9000. I was hired to help implement TS16949 and I basically learned it by implementing it.
7. Your pet peeve in quality - Quality only gets the go ahead to change anything if there has been a written nonconformance from a CB.
8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do? I don't know, I haven't learned all I need to know yet.

2. Quality Manager - I am currently implementing a quality system at a privately owned company that has never had a quality manager or any type of formal quality program.

3. I am currently in the automated utility meter reading industry, but I have worked in many different industries including printing, automotive, fiberglass, and plastics.

7. Lack of ownership of thye quality system by everyone in the company

Dear Sir,
I read your thoughts. I could not agree more even though I am a CB auditor for nearly ten years. I am an ex-Army officer who took voluntary retirement after twenty one years. I on panel of ten certification bocies. I conducted ISO 9001 & 14001 audits.
However it seems to me that unfortunately you have met the CB auditors like the ones you described. But let me assure you that all of us are not like that. That is why I am interacting with you as soon as I read your thoughts. I would love to be friends & interact with you as well as other like minded people on any forum
