Re: New Folks - Please Take a Minute and Introduce Yourself / Say Hello!
Hello everyone!... I think it's now my turn!
1. Name: My name is Veronica Salazar
2. Job Title or explanation of what you do: I work as a Quality Engineer for the Engine Components segment of a Tier 1 company... although sometimes I think I work as firefighter (sad but true)!
3. Industry you're in or have been in: I hold a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering degree from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). Right before and after graduation I had the chance to work for a Tier 1 company in the automotive industry as an engineer trainee, doing a lot of cutting, polishing and microstructure analysis in the Met Lab. But I moved to the States with my husband almost 3 years ago and I'm currently working for another Tier 1 company in the automotive segment.
4. Company you work for and location: I work for a bearing company with plants all over the world. The specific plant I work for is located in the "Prettiest Town in Dixie" (just Google that and y'all find out where it is!).
5. I haven't been too long in the Quality area (just 4 years total... and counting!)
6. Something personal that sets me apart? I'm very much involved in parish activities with my husband (Bible studies, cathechisms, bulletin) which gives me balance in my personal life. I love reading spiritual uplifting books (Interior Castle - St. Teresa of Avila; works of John of the Cross, Faustina Kowalska, among others), but I also like to read fantasy and science fiction books (JRR Tolkien much celebrated LOTR saga, Isaac Asimov books and most recently J.K. Rowling). Reading it's my slow paced, relaxation hobbie, but I also love riding roller coasters.... maybe because it's kind of a stress reliever to scream your brain out while riding through a series of twists and turns at 60mph... and by the way, I have a cool collection of pictures of me and my husband riding roller coasters
7. My pet peeve in quality? The "paperwork quality" people... that kind of quality personnel that thinks that Quality is just to try to make the paperwork look good in front of customers and auditors... (any resemblance to real persons or companies is just pure and unintended coincidence

)
8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do? I would like to see more Quality people living quality lives, spending more quality time with their families instead of staying endless hours trying to get the paperwrok straight for the next audit or customer visit.
So guys, I'm looking forward t learn a lot from your experience in the Quality field... although I have visited this website before and found very valuable information for my work. By the way, thank you to the guys that posted information on Destructive Testing GR&R... that help me a great deal. Thank you all and see you around!
