I'm Alan Charles
Title QA Manager at Renold Gears in the UK. Involved in all aspects of the business. Background of Toyota for 10 years in a similar role, previous to that engine design F1 and Indy Cars
Industry: Engineering covering automotive to light/heavy( steel roll mills etc) worldwide gears and gearboxes
Time in Quality 12 years
Pet Peeve lack of root cause finding by actually someone going down to have a look
Hope to change? make more people challenge and ask why, since I don't understand, thats what makes this place so good

1. My Name is Jim Campbell
2. I'm currently the Operations Manager for a small manufacturing company.
3. I've been in aerospace manufacturing for 30+ years with some time out with ballistic armor for aircraft and bullet resistant vests for law enforcement.
4. I work for TRI-FITTING MFG. Company located on South El Monte, CA.
5. I have 30+ years in quality. From QC inspector, QE, Inspection supervisor, Quality Manager, Director of Quality in small and large companies.
6. Not everything is black and white!
7. People that don't follow procedures.
8. Have companies understand that Quality is everyones responsibility, not a department.

Dear Readers:

While, I am not the 'veteran' of quality, I DO love working towards improvements in every aspect of my life. A scratchy little about me...

1. Name - Sameer Badruddin

2. Job Title - Quality Consultant (4 years now), though I can roast a little chicken on HSE too.

3. Industry you're in - Consulting Service currently. Being a Chemical Engineer, I 've also delved into Chemical Simulation software solutions, the glass processing industry (its fascinating!), and the petrochemical production floor (somehow, i aint the floor guy)

4. Company you work for and location - Global Experience Consulting, Kuwait which provides Feasibility studies, business plans, QHSE consulting, Industrial consulting services to name a few!

5. Length of time in quality function - I wished I was longer in quality, but then I have always been a person with a penchant for quality since my school days, which means I have been practicing quality unconciously for longer than I know of!! Well.... conciously, its been a healthy 4 years of jam-packed quality service.

6. The one thing that puts me apart - Most people say, I dont have an ego which hurts.

7. Your pet peeve in quality - I have many!
1. That there people in the top management who want the quality certificate and still give a DAMN about quality issues.
2. That I wished the quality awareness ever increased in the Middle East. (I'm INDIAN, I'm working in the Middle East!)

8. What would you do to change the world of quality - Change the mindset of the "dequalitized" top management. Clause 5.1 talks about management commitment, and an organization CANNOT successfully implement a good quality system if there is no clear intention to do so from the Top management!

Wow, glass, petrochemicals, heavy equipment (Caterpillar), areospace and ballistic armor. That is quite a wide range of experience. Welcome to the Cove! I look forward to learning more from you folks!
