My name is Michael O'Connor. I'm a Quality Manager in the manufacturing sector supplying injection molded components to the appliance and automotive industry. I've been part of Quality for over 20-years now.

I was here previously (and much too briefly) with a different nick and had some great discussions here. I'm back and I'll reiterate the introductory info:

1. Name: John Nabors
2. Job Title or explanation of what you do: QA Tech Foreman / ISO geek
3. Industry you're in or have been in: Defense, Semiconductor, Automotive
4. Company you work for and location: Currently on self-imposed sabbatical, doing a bit of side work
5. Length of time in quality function: 18 years
6. Something personal that sets you apart: Probably no one else here has had to rescue his or her goat from his or her hot tub within the last 10 days... "you might be a redneck if..."
7. Your pet peeve in quality: "But we always did it this way.." Dante missed one circle of hell that is destined for people who say that.
8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?: See more organizations see QMS as a vital part of the organization's success and not just something to panic about when audit time is closing in..

I was here previously from time to time and found a lot of precious information, but was not a Forum member. From now on, I am...

My introductory info:

1. Name: Markus Paul Mathis
2. Job Title or explanation of what you do: Quality System Manager - ISO/TS 16949 System enhancement - responsible for all Q issues... (former Doctor of Chemistry).
3. Industry you're in or have been in: Paper, coating, plastics (Injection moulding, blowmoulding), now: electric components (cables, joints, contacts, metal & plastics combination parts) also for Automotive industry (say: hybride drive).
4. Company you work for and location: Satrotec AG, Dielsdorf, Switzerland, since Aug 2007.
5. Length of time in quality function: 13 years
6. Something personal that sets you apart: if I only wouldn't be so curious in everything - I wouldn't have such a work overload.
7. Your pet peeve in quality: "That's good enough" when findig defects.
8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?: as above! (... more organizations seeing QMS as a vital part of the organization's success and not just something to panic about when audit time is closing in..)

1. My name is Kerri-Lynn K, my screen name is dammit because someone
had the name I wanted and quite frankly, it's been a long month! :p
2. I am a Quality Assurance Manager.
3. In the manufacturing industry.
4. I am not going to name the Company because they are responsible for the long month, and you may hear about it.
5. I am still in infancy - 2 years in Quality.... oh and surprise... 2 years as Quality Manager.
6. Something the sets me apart - In a months time, I have utilized almost every regular cover's advice! Thank-you all by the way :)
7. My Pet Peeve in Quality is the Verbal Diarrhea that coincieds with Profit.
8. If I could change the world of quality... I would make Quality mandatory!
