1. Brandon Johnston
2. Quality Assurance Manager
3. Medical Devices
4. Affinity Biologicals Inc. Ancaster, Ontario
5. I've been in Quality for 8 years at the time of this post
6. I could sit for hours and not think of a good answer to this question.
7. My quality pet peeve is division - Quality vs. [pick your favourite department]. I wish there was a better understanding of quality system ownership and how much control EVERYONE actually has - although in my current company there's a real effort to understand and cooperate.
8. If I could change the world of quality, I would put everything in laymen's terms so everyone could really understand.

I'm sure these answers would change from day to day if there was time.

Cheers,

Re: New Folks - Please Take a Minute and Introduce Yourself / Say Hello!

Hello!

My name is Mark Kerns and I am a Process Engineer " Six Sigma Black Belt" in the Healthcare Industry. My focus is improving Healthcare processes at the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland, Maryland. The Health system employees approximately 2200 employees. I started my Quality career in the manufacturing industry in 1992 and recently transfer into Healthcare three years ago. I am very devoted to my personal health, I rise every morning at 3:45am to start my daily workouts. There is alot of truth in the saying "The Early Bird Gets the Worm". My pet peeve is that people do not exercise a open mind and entertain the opportunites for change. If you always do what you've always done, you always get what you always got. My father, who is my biggest supporter, worked at Goodyear for 30 years and was a "farmer". A farmer is a person who is outstanding in his field...:biglaugh:Changing the quality field requires management to measure their key outputs and this requires the use of "data" on a daily basis. Without data its just another opinion. What gets measured gets done! There is no substitute for hard work. I just found this forum today and am hoping to touch base and network with all of you! Please feel free to contact me anytime! Talk with you soon!
