Ok. It's still new year, so let me greet all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
1.This is Arturo Gonzales
2/3/4/5. Metallurgist (that's by training, but has almost always been (in the last 15-20 yrs)with the Quality field. I was ASQ-CRE (2002), and a SSBB ( by Caterpillar, 2004). My first job was in automotive (transmission, gears, heat treat and machining;assembly), then in steel ( longs, HRC, CRC, machinery component casting and heat treat). For a little while with locomotive and light armord vehicle manufacture, then gear making for wind turbines (Pgh, PA; then Cgo,IL). Now I am with the beleaguered automotive industry here in Canada) !!! Soon I might have a lot of time with discussion groups like this. ( I have never joined one before).
6. As in tennis, I believe we should first serve then enjoy the game
7. Pet peeve: Those who think "quality" is something relative.
8. To change the world Q: meld it more with the world of reliability

6. Something personal that sets you apart - hardest working mom - I have 5 kids - ages 6 months to 18 years
7. Your pet peeve in quality - lip service and fads
8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do? - eliminate it - companies are going to make good or bad product iregardless of what we do - I say let them sink or swim on their own (I know, that would put me out of a job)

6. Something personal that sets you apart - I can wiggle my ears ;-)

7. Your pet peeve in quality – Quality initiatives are often viewed as cost/resource burdens - even when the outcome will inherently reduce cost.

8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do? - Take quality back to basics - I have encountered too many managers hung up on the latest fad - Lean, Six Sigma etc. without first understanding what quality is in their organisation or industry.

Hi everyone, I would like to take the opportunity to say I am really looking forward to discussing a wide array of topics will all.
1. My name is Dustin Deitchler
2,3,4,5. I have recently started for an Aeronautics shop in Helena, MT. My title is a working process, currently I am a Quality Assurance Analyst, but am more of a coordinator. I am in charge of internal audits, dealing with third party audits, and our quality manual. I have only been in quality for less than a year, working, studying, and training non-stop. Before, I was in the civil construction industry, traveling all over the country working on projects.
6. I am very eager and intrigued in the aerospace industry and quality in particular.
7. I am learning and trying not to have a bias opinion, but I agree with another blogger that upper management is only concerned with "quality “during the ramp up of an external audit.

6. I have way more questions than answers.
7. How every negative issue is somehow the Quality Departments fault!
8. Require all operators to have half a brain to participate in the manufacturing process.

I am 25 years old and trying to absorb as much as possible. I stumbled across this site and was really blown away by the wealth of experience and knowledge collected here. I am currently in the process of joining ASQ and becoming a CQT. I look forward to having the opportunity of picking some brains!

Dear All,

My name is Frans Jones, and I my job title is Quality Control Manager. I am in the Corporate Travel Industry, assisting corporate and goverment clients to manage their local and International travel arrangements, and ultimately of course their travel spend.

My company is South African Magic Travel Centre, based in Pretoria, South Africa. I have recently been appointed to this position, in our newly created Quality Department. I have been in operations for twenty years.

I think what sets me apart is that I asked my wife to marry in 1988, and kept on asking until she said yes in 2008. We went to the South of France last year for our honeymoon.

I have my reservations about the quality world, and know far too little to make even the most basic of any comments. I am in the process of learning.:truce:

Hi Everyone: I am new to the forum, but am always anxious to learn more about Excel. I am an intermediate user, and teach Excel to nurses. I, too, am an RN, and one of the few who knows and uses Excel. So I will be asking lots of questions.
