:bigwave: Welcome to the Cove, folks. We're always happy for an influx of new questions, new ideas, and new answers.
"Quality done, not quality spoken!"
IF I had been there, I would have championed your cause. Some folks just use the acronyms to make them seem superior to others who don't know the acronym. After a while, that "vegetable soup" is cooked too long and the letters break up. So, if I'm in aerospace, and I say we have a FMEA problem, is there a possibility I meant FEMA problem (since most folks pronounce the acronyms the same - "fee muh") and if I wrote it, could I have been dyslexic?

TIP: Look up acronyms at http://www.acronymfinder.com/

Thanks for the "Welcome Wagon", Wes. If you've been in the military long enough you'll find there's an acronym for just about anything. One question I have is where is the best place to ask questions? I posted a question on another thread catgory but it appears that thread is vacant at the moment. I had a question on GGG-P-463 (surface plate standard) and where I might be able to find it. Someone told me it might be in military publications. Are you familiar with this standard?

I recall a new Standard in the works
(new surface plate standard, ASME B-89.3.7)
The original Standard for Granite Plate is GGG P 463 (granite Surface Plate standard); Many Granite Plate manufacturers, suppliers, and calibration houses claim to use this Standard. Google the term (in Quotes) "GGG P 463" and you will come up with several companies that use the term in their "bragging" - ask them directly.

Hope this helps - you'll probably see other answers in your original thread. Do us a favor - once you get an answer that satisfies you, go back to your original thread and tell us what you got and where you got it so the next person with your question can be helped.

Wes,
It looks like Al beat me to the punch. It was a mil std as I'd been told but trying to find it on the web was impossible. As I mentioned in my "hello" message, I'm relatively new to the Quality Field but this site appears to be a goldmine of information and experience. Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute to answering someone's questions down the road. For now, my inputs I'll try to keep directly proportional to the amount of ears and mouths I possess.

Scott, don't be bashful, I'm sure you have plenty to contribute.
