My turn I guess...

1. Claes Gefvenberg... obviously :vfunny:

2. Quality Systems Mgr... Though some people seem to think I'm part of the IT dep. That could be caused by my extensive use of any computer related aids I can get my hands on...

3. Used to work with conveyor systems and construction equipment, currently in the stainless steel business.

4. AvestaPolarit.

5. Roughly 20 years... Done just about everything from inspector to the current job.

6. In spite of being stubborn as... determined, I mean, I'm very willing to try new tools and methods.

7. Constantly having to remind people about what they should need no reminders about: Meetings, deadlines, audits... I mean, they are grown-ups and they have calendars and things. I know, I've seen them... :frust:

8. Perform miracles... Because that's what it would take...

/Claes

Re: Cove Forums Regulars - Who are we?

Kevin Mader said:
1. Yes, that is my real name. Although it is Irish, I am a mix of Russian, German, and Polish but no Irish blood in my system (unless Irish beer qualifies for blood?)

2. Quality Manager for Thule in CT and I oversee the QMS in both our US manufacturing facilities (Ill). I have done some consulting work, but mostly just for friends and their referrals.

3. Roof Racks and Accessories for Automobiles. I worked in the Medical Device world too, once upon a time at US Surgical Corporation.

4. Noted above.

5. 12 years as: Senior Technician, Quality Engineer, Quality Manager.

6. Not really sure that I am much different than anyone else. Nothing distinctive that I know of.

7. Senior Management’s separation of the Quality & Business Systems and lack of Quality Concepts.

8. I would help folks to discover and learn Dr. Deming’s SoPK.
My update:

2) QA Engineer for a Medical Device manufacturer and still do some consulting on QMSs on a referal basis. I am also part owner in a basement finishing business that keeps me plenty busy.

3) Back in medical device and enjoying it. It is sad to say, but regulatory bound industries have a higher emphasis on Quality in my experience.

5) I'm still at it! I'll let you know when I have had my fill.

1. Name
Sue Landis

2. Job Title or explanation of what you do
ISO Coordinator - Hired 14 months ago to assist in the certification process - have since been offered Quality Manager but declined for a number of reasons - GM makes all calls and not enough money to compensate for the grief.

3. Industry you're in or have been in
Powder metal for the last 20 years doing training, document control and inspection of parts both dimensionally and metallurgically. Before the birth of my 2 sons, I taught secondary English.

4. Company you work for and location
Small PM Company in Elk County PA (PM capital of the world), but sent resumes out yesterday so I'm hoping to update this in the near future.

5. Length of time in quality function
A long, frustrating 20 years!

6. Something personal that sets you apart
This is a difficult one: I too have a passion for talking, but used to be exceptionally shy - divorce changes a person significantly! I wish I could find a job (or rich husband) and more to sunny CA where both of my sons live. ;)

7. Your pet peeve in quality
As Hank said - Quality being the first to go in cutbacks - I liked by previous job of 19 years, but cuts had to me made - why not the QS9000 document controller and trainer - they aren't essential!
And I also agree with ACRONYMS - I actually have a "Favorites" for deciphering them.

8. If you could change the world of quality, what would you do?
Barb beat me to it here - Leave (it will never change) - at least in my lifetime and I don't do well with frustration!

I've had Windfall, Clarion, and Brockway as PM suppliers - any one of these?

No - none of these - we are VERY small (~50), but I used to work for Keystone Powder (once, one of the largest)!

1. Joe Cruse
2. Quality/Lab Manager
3. Ferroalloys
4. CC Metals and Alloys
5. 9.5 years with company in the Lab, 2.5 in Quality
6. My wife could likely write volumes!
7. Same as some others here-some in the company just don't get it. Like quality has nothing to do with business, it's only there to look good for customers and make up some letters when they complain, otherwise stay out of the way. Fortunately, the top guy preaches that quality=business.
8. Same as others have said, quit using the "quality" designation; it's all about good business practices.

Hello all

Hello all,

I am back from my wilderness!!!! I was a member of the cove forum some 2 years back (Marc, ISOGUY and other knew me before). Due to excessive work load I was away from forums for a while and now back in action!!

Trust all the oldies in the forum are doing fine and a big hello to all the newbies (who joined after I left Cove forums) :bigwave:

Will try and read as many posts as possible and try to give my inputs regularly.

Take care all.

Regards.
