Thread Measurement - Basics on Thread Plug and Ring Calibration

Which ASME or other manual will give you a general overview of the basics on thread plug and ring calibration?

I know the manual list is extensive on ASME website. Just curious if anyone can recommend something.

Check out ANSI IFI-301:2008, Gage Calibration Requirements and Procedures for Thread Gages, & ANSI/ASME B1.2-1983 (R2007), Gages and Gaging for Unified Screw Threads.

Also, to get an idea of what it takes, check out the attached FED-STD-H28 Section 6, Gages & Gaging for Unified Screw Threads (still active).

The UN-series of threads ANSI/ASME B1.2 is the official document that defines the gage requirements.
The M-series data is found in ANSI/ASME B1.16M and uses many of the same procedures as the UN-series.
General data about the gage blanks and handles is found in ANSI/ASME B1.47.
If you do not own these they must be purchased from an Authorized Reseller.
