I am looking for the spec, (AMS, MIL, etc) that specifies checking threads with a ring gauge.
More information: We have parts that the No-Go thread gauge is going on the thread 1/2 turn then stops. We run our threads to the small side so when we plate the part (in this case .0002 build up) the go gauge still goes. I measure the Pitch diameter and it shows .0008-.001 over the bottom pitch. However, the no-go still starts on the thread. I believe this is normal as this is the lead thread; however, I am looking for a specification that I can point to that shows I am right (or wrong). I cannot find a specification number.
Thanks in advance.
