Re: Time line for 9100B

Hello All,

Does anyone have a time line they can share for getting registered to AS9100B?
Do you mean the time from the start of the implementation until you are registered? Or are you talking about the time line for the transition from AS9100B to its replacement, AS9100C?

AS9100B is nearly gone. It will cease to exist after July 1st 2012, and certification bodies will not be auditing to it after July 1st 2011.

The time line for implementation to registration within a company varies widely, mostly depending on commitment, resources, and current state of anything that resembles a quality management system. In very loose terms, a company that is already disciplined with some sort of system may take six months or less, where a company that needs to fully overhaul their culture and systems may need twelve months or more.

Big Jim,

Thanks for the quick reply. We are currently registered to 9001:2008 and 13485, so this is not our first rodeo. We have been advised by our registrar to go for 9100B because it is easier and would be quicker. Baby steps, I guess. I have updated our manual to Rev C but implementation will take some time, so I am looking for some guidance.

You should take a look at the intent of your CB. While they may be acting in your best interest it would also appear they are, understandably, looking at their own.

If you get certified to Rev. B, you are going to need to upgrade to Rev. C next year regardless. What that means is more cost for your organization. I would inquire about these aspects and make sure that the costs are ironed out prior to initiation.

That's what I was going to say! :tg: Or, maybe that registrar doesn't have their auditors through the transition training yet.

Re: Time line for 9100B

At this point it would be really risky to start for Rev.B.It needs some time to complete your preparation for audit and you have to complete two phases of audits. In the process,if you miss the dead line set by IAQG,you will only get sorry & sorry from your CB.
Another point to note is the pressure the CBs going to face to complete either another round of audit in Rev.B or for transition as the dead line nears. So the CB may not be able to schedule your audit when you need it.

So my friends have correctly pointed out to go for Rev.C.Hope you have choice for CBs.
