I am wondering if there is any requirement from ISO 9001 or TS standard that drawing tolerances have to be per specific standard.
We are a manufacturer of electrical protection devices (Shuntrip, combiner boxes and enclosures).
The issue is our drawing for our enclosures suppliers (sheet metalworking and fabrication section) has a tolerance of +/-0.005” or0.010” in title block. This is much tighter than what we really require.
I want to know if make these tolerances wider and do not reference it to any standard, are we going to be in trouble for ISO or customer audit?
Also, is there any specific standard for dimensional tolerances in sheet metal working and fabrication industries? Then we can apply that standard in our tolerances.
Thank you
