Hi, I am new to elsmar and found that this is the place where all experience gurus are. I have searching but did not get the information I am looking for.
I am a quality engineer who are now newly a Toyota supplier. I am confuse on how to prepare PPAP for Toyota. I know that SQAM is the best source of the information, but after reviewing SQAM, I still don't know what to start. Can anyone help me please? It will be very very appreciate and this help will safe my life.

I have experience for PPAP but not with Toyota so that I am not sure what is difference. Not sure if Toyota require PPAP packages same like other or not.

1) What are the steps of preparing PPAP submission for Toyota ?
For example : submit I/S --> PFMEA/ MQC-->Boundary sample and Sample part submit to Toyota-->Submit AR form for PA approval ( with all follow documents completed/Approved : MQC, FMEA, I/S, Capability study, Raw material cert, PEP, SDS and QRC)

2) If the Drawing/PFMEA does not have designated control characteristic [Pc] ==> do I still need to submit the capability study?
- if yes,
- then how to determine which dimensions should include on capability study?
- then we are only focusing on Ppk (>1.67) as the PPAP part is only short term with small sample size correct?

3) This part does not have any checking fixture (both variable and attribute) ==> do we still need to submit any GR&R ? The process is using PLC only no checking requires rather than visual check when placing each part into the bin.

4) Do Toyota always require Boundary sample and sample part submission (sample as PPAP parts?) ?

5) Any other information , suggestion would be really and very appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Berger

Hi Berger,
First welcome, this is one of the best sources for taping experience. I would strongly urge you first contact your Toyota Supplier contact as his or her info and input is what is needed here. Of course unless someone from Toyota is a member of the Cove, even then Toyota tightly controls their info and data. The Covers can give you their input or suggestions but what matters is what your customer has requested and specified.
My two cents...and check out the Cove for similar posts...pretty certain this or similar questions have been asked.

Cheers, Optomist1

Thank you. I will eventually contact SQE. I am just starting this job only 5 days. My previous company where I worked with, doesn't work in Toyota. I am now hand off this Toyota project from the previous QA here, and just need as much as information before going to speak with the SQE at least I am doing my home work. I am kind of nervous and probably lack of confident to this newly job. However, I will put my 110% in to it.

Everything is in SQAM.
Just study or ask Toyota for training, when possible.

European suppliers have access to Toyota Portal.
Toyota engineers issue requests for preparation of documents, e.g MQS, SDS, PIS
You need to submit them and get approval.

Special characteristics are managed by PIS. Content may be decided by Toyota or by you, as supplier.

Dimensional results, capability analysis you submit using form Sample Data Sheet.
All PIS items have to be transferred into SDS.

If no checking fixtures listed in MQC (control plan), you don't need to prepare document.

Product, process approval is formalized through documents called Provisional Approval Form and Final Approval Form.

Boundary sample are used for aspect evaluated visually to clarify doubts or get approval for deviations if needed.

It is what I remember from past and don't expect radical changes, but of course current SQAM access and study is needed.

Toyota has transitioned everything to QIMS (portal) all PPAP tasks are now listed and supplier uploads documents to satisfy these tasks. The most important document is the Inspection Standard. They treat this as a live document and it is to be updated same as PFMEA and MQC. If there are any deltas (Regulation items) on print, then you will need test data and Toyota form to submit results. Have your IT person get you set up on the portal and access to QIMS. THe SQAM is really just an outline but does not explain how to get to Part Approval, and the QE's are inconsistent on which documents they request. Good Luck
