I agree with Sidney about the training needed but IRCA have a different view See This. It looks like IRCA registered auditors will need to do a bit more.

I realise that there does not have to be formal training to address this but it may be an option for some.

I'm pretty sure that 4 hours of CPD could be met pretty quickly right here...

I must thank the IRCA for giving me a general format for upgrading my internal auditors to the new revision to ISO 9100:2008. It seems that more and more 2nd party auditors are asking about auditor training because they have read TS 16949 and like it.

This revision to ISO 9001:2008 is important and we will require you (IRCA certificated QMS auditors) to demonstrate that you have updated yourselves with the changes in the revision and that you understand the implications of these changes in the context of your QMS auditing activities.

Indeed it does, but as we know, there are different ways of achieving this update. A formal training course is an option and it will be easy to demonstrate via a certificate that you have had the training.

As Howste rightly says, using the Cove to research information is an alternative as will be self study etc. but you will have to detail that on your CPD log and it will take more than 4 hours as it will not qualify as structured CPD; only interactive/participative events qualify for this.

All ya gotta do is use some of us as the folks you interacted with like Howste, Sid, myself, etc. Ask questions, get answers and you have interaction.

Further to my recent post regarding the IRCA requirement for CPD, it has been withdrawn because they received a lot of feedback saying that 4 hours was too much for the changes (no surprise there then!).

They are reviewing it and hope to re-issue in the next week or so - watch this space and I will update as soon as I have it.

We have some similar issues with people jumping through their fannies and trying to complicate a relatively simple process with this.
