in ISO9K2K 7.5.3 said:

Where appropriate, the organization shall identify ..................

and in TS 7.5.3.1 it says:
The words "where appropriate"in 7.5.3 shall not apply.

Does this mean now under TS, in any cases, the organization shall identify the procuct.................:bonk:

Thanks

That's the way it reads to me. Under TS you have to identify all products throughout product realization. It doesn't tell you how you have to, just that you have to.

Does this mean the physical identification of the product? Or, can virtual (i.e. electronic via an ERP system) identification suffice?

Maybe I misunderstand you, but how can you virtually identify material without some kind of physical identification to tie it to the part? The intent is that for any material you come across, you must be able to tell what it is and what its inspection status is. Without something physically attached to the part or container (such as a tag or label) it would be difficult to know either of those, even if you knew from MRP that the parts existed somewhere in the building.

My apologies! You're absolutely correct! I wasn't thinking clearly yesterday! Thanks for the swift kick-start!
