Clause 8.2.4.2 Appearance Items requires special controls.

What is an appearance item ? Is it an item that is visible after being assemble into an automobile ? Our product is not visible after aasembly. So, do we have any appearance items ?

The clause also stated that it is a customer designated item. We are not a tier 1 supplier, but a tier 3 supplier. Is the customer a tier 2 supplier or are they the automotive assemblers ?

Yes, to the best of my knowledge (I've not heard differently), an "Appearance Item" is visible in the final assembly.

Yes, your customer defines whether an item isan "Appearance Item" - no matter the "tier" your customer belongs in.

Your customer could be either a "Supplier" and/or an "Automotive Assembler". (I guess I don't fully understand the reasoning of your last question )
