Re: ISO 9001 Containment Requirements
What Andy says is true of course, but the finding can come from one or more instances where this was not done. So, for containment in this case I would ask "Are we deficient in our product audits for all of our products/ part numbers, or is a procedure in place and just not getting executed effectively all of the time?" Next, evaluate what records you do have, and which PN are overdue or not currently scheduled, and need to be audited. After this, work to get caught up on all these missing audits, working from the list of PN which you identified, and perhaps by prioritizing the list based on risk, or length of time the audit is overdue. Do all this, and you've contained and corrected the immediate problem. From there, you must move on to the corrective action, determine the root cause of why you got behind on your audits in the first place, and how to prevent that from happening in the future...
So in general, the containment/ correction is actually doing the audits which need to be done, and the corrective action is to implement a system where this happens timely and consistently in the future.
Hope this helps.
