Re: Our Failure Modes

If you look at the Chrysler requirement June 2010, it is very clear-without exception regarding the frequency of LPA. That was the only NC in the TS audit.

Yes, weekly is for top management. As you go down the layers of mgt, the frequency increases. The bottom layer is typically once per shift by a team leader or supervisor. CQI-8 should detail it all.

Yes I red the CQ-8. We only work 1 shift, 16 people-including non-hourly workers, and we make this fluid once a month. Can we just get a waiver from Chrysler and have All layers of management audit once a month when the product is being made?

I would certainly put that request to them. Your case is certainly not the classic situation that LPA was inteded for. In fact, ask if Mgt could do it on alternating months.

Re: Our Failure Modes

Lets see... The failures from my audit last week...

- Auditor never confirmed the audit date
- Auditor didn't provide an audit schedule
- The registrar seemed to have lost all records of our previous audits in their online system.
- Not clear that the registrar ever provided the final copy of our last audit report (I was not here at the time)
- Auditor and Witness Auditor (from registrar) spent more time complaining about registrar's travel policy and talking about everything else under the sun than they did auditing.
- Still no access to registrar's online system one week after requesting it.

Oh, wait. You meant MY failures... ;)

Logically a nonconformity is any situation where a SHALL requirement is infringed. There are over 300 SHALLS in TS 16949 Standard which actually include 436 SHALL requirements.Therfore the no of NCs possible is 436.
A list of shall requirements can be compiled by simply going through the standard.

Did you make a reject report out for this supplier, as you would have done for any other (materials/sub-contractor) supplier?

I'd strongly suggest that you do! You paid (good) money for this service and, as a member of the community I believe you should be striving to get the most value from these - so that management see a difference!

What will you be doing?

Re: Our Failure Modes

Because they give us a fancy certificate to include with our PPAP submissions. Makes the owners happy enough.

Well, there are a few other good registrars represented on Elsmar here that will give you a "fancy certificate to include with our PPAP submissions," AND pretty darn good service and value-added audits to boot. 3 year warranty, and no charge for oil changes... But, this is a limited time offer...:notme:
