A few years ago a couple of us attended QS9000 Lead Auditor training, came back and went to work. We are a fineblanking company.
We are now at the beginning stages of transition to TS16949.
A review of the many companies offering TS Lead Auditor training state in the descriptions that current QS auditors should attend the training.
Question to any and all: Having the QS training, would there be a reasonable benefit in attending a TS auditing class? My company is willing to make the investment financially so thats not an issue.
I appreciate your views!

Steve

I have not been to a TS lead auditor course, and really don't plan on one. If you are already trained in auditing, you may be better off looking for a course on implementation or interpretation. It has been awhile since my ISO lead auditor, but I recall there was a lot of "auditing mechanics" that really don't change with the new standard. You may wish to take a shorter course on development of the system instead. Just a thought.

The big change for auditing is the process approach. IMO, if you are not doing it the way it is explained in the TS2 audit course, you will have problems meeting the requirements.
The auditors that wotk for the CB's have taken their course from AIAG. It is the same course as offered to the suppliers, except the written test contains more questions.
If I had not taken the supplier auditing course from AIAG I would not have been able to complete the required documentation package required by our CB.

I can see validity to both reponse Sam and Tom.
While eventually Im sure we would achieve a level of proficiency to meet TS reqs, the auditor training would accelerate this greatly.
Our QS cert expires 12/15/03 and we dont want to go the final 3 years with QS so acceleration might be desirable.
Thanks!
