I noticed this back in Sept when I signed on with this company to help them transition. . .
I also noticed that this is the only place in the standard (that I have found so far), that the word "PART" is used. In all other cases, the word PRODUCT is used. Product can be the ore out of the ground.
There is also section 7.6, and customer specific requirements located on the IAOB web site IAOB.org, where supplier development is mandaded "to achieve conformity with this (TS-16949) technical specification". . . based on the impact to the customer of their product or service . . but there is also the escape clause where organizations are too small to have the resources to implement TS are given special dispensation.
It had to be the "Automotive" gang that put the word PART in there. . . it is not in the ISO 2K requirements. IMHO, I think the word PART was a goof-up and not intentional.
