TS for only “some” Customers
Hi
A question came to my mind about he applicability of ISO TS 16949:2002: My company only has one auto customer (Daimler), with a little share in our business; of course, they have mandated us to be certified till next year, and we are doing it! But, regarding the other customers (mainly electronic), SHALL we comply with all TS specifications with them? I think not: my opinion is that a quality system based in ISO 9001:2000 is more than enough to fulfil the “other” customers; the auto customer is the only one for witch it is mandatory for us to accomplish all ISO TS specifications. I looked up in the TS in the “foreword” section the phrase “Boxed text is original ISO 9001:2000 text. The sector specific supplemental requirements are outside the boxes”; in 0.5, it says “This Technical Specification…for automotive production”.
Bottom line: ISO TS costs money and is time consuming, so if I can “shrink” the applicability, I can reduce costs.
Your thoughts are welcome.
