TS16949 and APQP - Does anyone have a cross reference from APQP to TS16949 clauses?

Marjie James

I have been slowly revising the procedures to comply with the new standard TS16949:2002. I am now in section 7.0 Product Realization and looking at adding quality objectives and requirements to our APQP procedure.

Throughout our procedure we reference the APQP clause and the QS9000 clause for reference. All those will need to be changed. Does anyone have a cross reference from APQP to TS16949 clauses available? Sure would save some time.

Thanks
Marjie:bigwave:

APQP in TS

If you look at the bottom of 7.1, you will find a note that reflects advanced product quality planning. That is about as close as I have found. Check with the individual B3 sites for specific info. You can connect to their sites from the IAOB at: http://www.iaob.org/

I am looking for a cross reference. For example, in our procedure the first step is:
Initiate Project/Identify Objectives this refers to: APQP 1.12 and QS9000 4.4.1, 4.4.5.

APQP help!!

I am in dire need of an example APQP. My company is trying to get TS certification to supply stainless steel to the automotive industry and we have not thoroughly understood the concept of APQP. My manager want me to get an example to help understand this concept better. Any further assisstance or links would be greatly appreciated.

APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) is a 5 phase process. Because it is a process, any examples would be product specific and I'm not certain it would do much good. My suggestion is that you contact the AIAG at www.aiag.org and order the APQP manual. It explains the various phases including inputs and outputs.

Marjie or anyone

I have just started building just such an APQP/TS 16949 cross reference.

It is a surprisingly difficult task! They do not mesh well at all. "Realization" indeed!

Has anyone already done this?

If not I'll post what I end up with here when (and/or if) I get it done.

But it took going to AIAG APQP training to do it.
Attached is my own APQP & Control Plan to TS16949 cross-reference. This is from notes taken during the AIAG APQP Training. Don Wood was kind enough to connect the two together during the training. This is not a sanctioned interpretation and no warranty is given, expressed or implied, just a helpful reference tool.
Enjoy, Icy.

Not too much of either. About 45 minutes of typing/organizing, as for thought, I just paid attention in class and wrote it down. The credit goes to Don Wood.
