All,

I have just joined a company that has two locations. One is ISO9001/TS16949 certified and the other is ISO9001 certified. I have experience with ISO but none with TS16949. I know the two systems (ISO9001 and TS16949)are based on each other. I would like to know recomendations for:

1. TS16949 training
2. ISO9001/TS16949 Lead Assessor training (Is there a combined course or are these exclusive to each other?)

Thanks!

TS is based on ISO 9001, not the other way round. What do you need training for? Do you have to be competent in TS? Do you need to be a Lead Assessor, lets say to be a supplier auditor?

We can make recommendations for all kinds of training, but unless you are just looking to pad your resume (which given you've just started, probably isn't required, but they may go along with) it's much more appropriate to help your new organization get what's actually needed for you!

I want competancy in TS, be able to audit our suppliers to TS and lead the overall TS program to improvement, I am also tasked to lead the internal audit program/assess internal auditor competance which is what leads me to also be a Lead Auditor.

If you are looking for training I would suggest QAI(trainingforquality.com)
I work for them at times as a contractor and feel they do a good job.

If you have time to read/study on your own; I always liked the works by David Hoyle.

This book is based on the 2002 version, but still very applicable. Amazon allows you to peek inside the book.

Thanks all! I believe I'll attend the AIAG course for ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Training with AIAG ISO/TS 16949 Supplier Auditor Certification, I'll also check out the books recommended!

Thanks again!

I used SAI Global for RAB accredited Lead auditor training. Was 4 days of class participation, and 4 nights of homework, plus essay, and a 4 hour exam. This was acceptable by Ford as accredited lead auditor training. They conduct classes at various places and times. Just a recommendation,I am not affiliated with them in any way.

Hi !

My suggestion is to find a training company that has included practice (specific) on their training schedule. We had experience with 2 such companies - 1st it was mentioned full ISO/TS 16949 training, but there were no practical applications. The 2nd training company offered us 5 days of trainings from witch 2 of practice - and it was very effective. Also, they had included a coaching program, by which, after the training, a person would guide the trainees on their own company for 2-3 weeks.

No matter what training provider you use, RABQSA acrredited training courses provide more credibility, and customer recognition. So if you are going to spend the time and money make it worth while. After all who knows where they may end up someday, I certainly didn't.
