I have a general question about who can get TS 16949 registered. We supply kits and line set components to the heavy truck industry. We do not manufacture anything. The manufacturer's parts are drop shipped to our location. When we receive the parts, the ownership of the parts changes from the part manufacturer to the truck plant. We warehouse the parts until they are needed by the truck assembly plant. We may perform some light assembly or drill a couple holes in some components before sending them over.

We are being pressured to become TS 16949 registered by the truck plant's corporate quality group. Our registrar is saying we are not eligible for TS registration because we do not manufacture product.

Has anyone had a similar question and answer? I would need something more than someone's opinion since our response would be sent to the corporate quality folks for the truck plant. They already do not believe the letter sent to them by our ISO registrar.

Thanks

Yes, and why not simply explain to your customer that the TS rules show (them) they're asking for the wrong thing! If they don't believe an IATF accredited CB, then you're speaking to the wrong person! Send them the quote from the TS rules.
