Two Quality Manuals? ASME wants it's own manual!

Good morning to all!

We here at MMC are going to register with ASME and the National Board to get our "U" and "R" stamps for pressure vessels. One of the requirements for this is a new QA manual. ASME doesn't care that we are ISO 9002 certified, they want they're own manual. How does ISO feel about this??

The ISO standard doesn't say anything about how many manuals you can have. As long as the standard is met, you can add to it as much as you like. I would suggest for simplicity, though, that you add to/modify your existing manual to meet the ASME requirements rather than keep two seperate manuals. You don't need an 'ISO Manual'. All you need is a quality manual that meets the ISO standards, so just make sure that your ASME manual meets them.
