Unconditional Documented Procedures vs. Recommended Procedures in 17025

Ok, I searched the forum but couldnt find any answers to my question.

How to tell which documented procedures are strictly unconditonally required by 17025, and which are left for the organization to decide whether to document it or not?

ISO 9001 explicitly states the required documented procedures: "A documented procedure shall be established to define requirements to <...>"
Is there a way to tell which procedures need to be documented acording to 17025?
17025 doesnt use the term "documented procedure", all it says is: "The laboratory shall establish and maintain procedures for the <...>" Is there something hidden behind those establish and maintain?

EDIT: Ok, I am a really lousy search user :)
The similar question has been raised in the thread "Documented procedures per ISO 17025" (I cant post the link since i have posted only three posts (forum anti-spam policy)).

First to answer the establish and maintain question. Yes, that means there must be a current procedure for that, measurement uncertainty is one example where that specific statement is used.

Most of the time for required procedures, the Standard will use the phrase "policy and procedure" which then requires both.

Note that the Standard also requires in Clause 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 a quality manual and quality policy.

I did not delete this because you are the first that I recall to ask about the "establish and maintain" reference.

Hope this helps.

In setting up our system we first concentrated on all the 'SHALL'. This is ISO 'easy speak' (G.O - 1984) for 'you have no option'. I have added several other procedures and policies that are needed to provide clarity in the organization. Start off with the 'shall' and as your system is a living/ evolving one, you will add on as you deem necessary. :2cents:
