i'm having trouble understanding a couple of items under 3.2.6.2 (Calibration documentation)

can some explain to me:

- Standard used during calibration
- difference between:
- offset as found and as left
- any intentional offset as left
- example of
- limitaion or restrictions of calibration


- it would be very much appreciated if anyone had an example cert. to show also

This is the higher order, NIST traceable standard that you used to calibrate the item under question. It could also include the applicable procedure you used. I have also seen the instrument classification from AMS 2750D listed here.

- offset as found and as left
- any intentional offset as left

- limitation or restrictions of calibration
Generally, this is the difference from the actual displayed reading and the ideal reading, for lack of better terms. Your standard simulates 200F, and the instrument under test displays 202F. The offset is +2F. However, it's always better to adjust instruments to remove any offset if possible. Life just seems to be better than way.:D

Too, there may be an offset listed for temperature profile surveys. If you have to increase the controller 3 degrees to get a good survey, then you would list that as the offset.

As far as limitations.. Say you try to calibrate a controller from 0-1000F, and it is way off above 800F. The oven can only achieve around 500F, and the customer uses it to 375F. Thus, you could perform a limited calibration to 450F, but it needs to be marked on there.

Unfortunately I could not find any examples of this, but the certificate should not deviate from a generally accepted pattern in the industry. It will just add the required fields of interest (if applicable).
