CALLING ALL COVE MEMBERS!!
I have just been tasked with sole responcibility of upgrading our QS9000 system to TS! :truce: I am working for an automotive company as a quality engineer with our quality manager (who has been off sick for 5 wks now) in his absence i have been asked to impliment TS 2 as it is currently not known if he shall return. I have never implimented a system before only controled one :nopity: . I have been on the auditors course for TS 2 and am quite happy with auditing/controling a system but with regards to implimenting it within our site :frust: .
I know there is a wealth of information held within the cove.... please can someone point me in the right direction of what i need to do? I know time is slowley running out for us as QS dies the end of 2005!! :thanx:

Don't overburden yourself by re-inventing the wheel. Your QS-9000 QMS should meet the requirements of TS with very few revisions. The quality system is in place and implemented. Your task will be to bring the "presentation" of that system in line with the process approach of the new system. You are way ahead by already having the auditor training so re-defining the system in terms of process orentation should not be that hard. I would look at a comparison of the 2 standards to determine what's new and assuming your QS-9000 system is up-to-date, use the comparison as a gap analysis. Once you define your business processes, as learned in the auditor classes, you should be ready to map (turtle or otherwise) the system. I think you will find the change to TS will have minimal effect on how the company "does" quality. Take a deep breath and compare the requirements. I saw a nice comparison here at the Cove one time but unfortunately, I don't have a copy. Maybe one of the others can post a link. Good luck.

Another word of advice, the Quality Management System is not just the responsibility of the Quality Department. For TS especially the whole company needs to be behind the project and support it. It is not just a one man job. Make sure the management team clearly understand that it will require effort and work from every department to be successful.

The following link may help as it contains a comparison table between QS and TS

QS to TS

As stated before, if you have a QS system in place the hard work is already done. One document I used when we converted was the IATF Guidance to ISO/TS 16949:2002.

I know time is slowley running out for us as QS dies the end of 2005!! [/QUOTE]

Just a clarification, Ford and GM Customer Specifics both state that QS doesn't expire until December 14, 2006 but Daimler-Chrysler stated it expired on July 1, 2004.

Good Luck !! You'll do great.

Well I was faced with the same task here QS to TS conversion. All is going well. As stated in earlier posts half the battle is done you have most of the requirements met with your QS system....at least we did. The main areas we are focusing on shoring up are management review, and continual improvement of our processes. The nice thing about this standard is it forces departments to actually DO something now. Set goals and be held accountable for goals which they set. We are in the meeting with department heads at the moment. This is where you will find the most resistance to this change as people don't always lioke change. the nice thing here at least is I have gotten top management to buy into the new TS system.
