Re: Pick your brains - Use of sampling plans like MIL-STD-105 E or ANSI Z1.4?
well, at least I know that Z1.4 and 105E are pretty much word for word.....
So, my questions remain. Reading the good books haven't enlightened me any more - and I guess there isn't a "dummies guide to acceptance sampling".....
What I do remember is thinking that since I couldn't tell what the producers risk was, I couldn't always be certain that a blanket 0.4% AQL was sufficient and, in some cases was overkill......and cost us more than the benefit.
So, as with SPC, you have to have some data to base the selection of a sampling plan, a bit like you have to study 50 items to do real SPC.
I also remember thinking it was still better than nothing to use even an abitrary value like 0.4%.....until you had data......
