Use of SS304 in place of SS301 (Stainless Steel)

Customer drawing ask to use SS 301 but size of rod is not easily available, is it ok to SS 304

No, not unless the Customer agrees to this.

Jan is right. It is never acceptable to substitute anything unless the customer approves.

TIP: Get any deviation in writing!

Obviously customer approval should be sought. But there should be no reason not to approve the substitution. Good luck.
