Using AI to generate a basic integrated policy covering ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001.

I recently used AI to generate a basic integrated policy covering ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001, written in plain English. That done, I proceeded to tweak it by adding some business specific information. This turned out quite well.

So.... Did anybody else try something similar, and if so: How did it turn out?

*guidance references maybe usuful as :
1- the sustainability ' can cover policies as : GUIDE 82-Guidelines for addressing sustainability in standards;
2-previous standard guidance OHSAS 18002 ' clause 4.2 OH&S for policy;
3- ISO TS 9002 - 5.2.1 Establishing the quality policy ;ISO 14004 , clause 5.2 has good clauses regarding EMS

As mostly a proof of concept, we tried it for a few policies required for CMMC. Same approach: generate & tweak. I would agree, it worked well.

Ive created outlines for presentations using AI. Its very good at organizing at a high level and not missing important areas. The finer one goes though the fuzzier the results which makes sense on generalizability of training data vs discrete examples.

What are you using for this approach? Specific app please

I fiddled with ChatGPT before the company blocked it and generated some ISO9001:2015 quality policies early last year. They weren't too bad and could have been a good start for someone.

Coincidentally, I saw a position statement on AI from an author that I follow. This is a relevant clip from the rather lengthy statement that has very interesting implications for the future, which I suspect will prove very accurate.

"If I start to rely on AI to write my books, then the more I do that, the worse I’ll become at writing.

The same goes for any technology, a term I’d define as anything artificial that we use to try to address the vulnerabilities of our fallen state as human beings.

Clothes are technology, technically speaking. So is writing itself. And just as the invention of writing things down made us worse at remembering, and calculators made us worse at mental math, relying on an AI to write for you will make you a worse writer. It’s pretty simple, really. And since I love writing, I want to get better at writing, not worse! Therefore, I won’t use AI to write for me."

If we let AI think/reason for us, we will get worse at thinking and reasoning.

Another thought about AI: AI is trained based on past work. Therefore, everything AI will develop will be derivative of that past work. AI will not create anything new or innovative.

That is a good point. As this was an integrated policy covering ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 (and then some) I saved time by getting a basic document ready for further tweaking. That done, I have been using a matrix covering all the std. requirements plus company specific data like vision, mission and so on.

A further good point is whether your company allows the use of AI applications or not, as there are clear cybersecurity implications in doing so: No such problem here, as this was first of all sanctioned, and secondly all entered information came from the standards concerned. Finally the finished document is official. That said, we should take great care and consider what data we use in connection with AI.
