Using purchased "Training Doc" (TQS) software - Tips/Tricks

We just recently purchased Training Doc software from TQS Associates, Inc. If you use it, do you have any tips/tricks? How do you document training with it? Do you use the generated reports or a separate form?

Does TQS Associates, Inc. provide any training on the software? Is it customized for your organization? Is it off-the-shelf? Have you tried "googling" it to see if there are sites out there with tips/tricks on managing it?

I'm guessing it was purchased so that your organization could document training with it...but no one knows hows to use it? Sounds strange to me...but it is that time of year when strange things happen... :cool:

It is a straight forward, off the shelf program that tracks documents and which employees have been trained on those documents. As with other applications I've used in other areas, sometimes the best uses are thought up by the end user, which were not the primary intention of the developer. I just wanted to see if anyone has used the application for something that was not outlined in the User Guide.

That was strange to me too, but not wanted to be the first one to post this, presumed i am overreacting ...

I am wondering what was the selection criteria during the evaluation of this sw.

My company has been using TQS software for about the past 10 years. I'm the resident 'expert' here so if you have a question about TrainingDoc, send me a private message and we can go from there.

Just to let you know, I am currently in the process of moving to another quality software suite. TrainingDoc is old software, originally written in MS Access version 2.0. I feel it has very limited features to offer now days compared to other MS Windows / server software.

More than happy though to let you pick my brain for any useful information.

What new training management system is your company moving to/moved to? I have been researching excel based documents to base matrix on but have not found something of use yet. We have a high turnover of contractors due to nature of different construction contracts and think a management system would be a better option if it could store documents directly related to each employee/contractor. I would be interested to see what you are moving to after many years of using one system.
